This is a place where detritus acquires form and from which form emerges to be shared — a singular, malleable environment, a home base. Here, observation, contemplation and expressive imagination are distilled and realized in myriad tangible forms.
It all started from an ever-growing, overwhelming mass of scribbled notes — accumulated over decades on loosely strewn-about notecards, Post-it notes, random bits of paper taped to walls and stuffed into assorted totes, book bags, bins and folders, and others written in notebooks piled and stuffed into cabinets around the studio - some expressing vague concepts and remote possibilities, and others describing in great detail very specific purposes and descriptions accompanied by sketches or rough mock-ups for zines, artists books, periodicals, artists writings, objects, multiples, prints, ephemera and more.
Kanreki Press was born out of the realization of the necessity to create a dedicated container to hold space for concept ideation, creative exploration, and supported manifestation of these projects.
